Osasuna - Espanyol
With a sky high morale affter inflicting the first home defeat of the season on Real Madrid the team from Pamplona takes home Espanyol with the aim of setlling their options for european football next season. A wonderful performance for Osasuna in Santiago Bernabeu when they succeded imposing their fighting menatlity over a confused and tired Real team. All this make the task harder for Espanyol who need to recover a 5 points gap in order to save themselves and the tension has been rising in the club with a week of polemics and coach Luis Fernandez being contested for the first time. For hosts full squad so most likely the same team from last week will be fielded while Espanyol have worries on the left defensive postion where Vignal injured could be replaced by Wome and Jordi Cruyff has been left out of the team.
Albacete - Celta
A tough encounter as Albacete try to continue their slow but (sure) march to safety in front of a Celta that could only use a win if they were to have any chance. Albacete assured a point in Espanyol that has seen them maintain on a safe position while not letting Espanyol get closer. On their part Celta has seen any hopes of getting a win falling apart in the 60 min of the home encounter with Sevilla after an futile second yellow card has left them one men down. The game was flowing in their favour up to then only their pressing was pretty sterile, players didn't look really 100% motivated and were affected by what was at stake. For Albacete central defender Pablo is suspended and will be probably replaced by Navarro while midfielder Lawal is still injured. Striker Aranda has recovered but might have lost his starting position. Celta will have to do without Mostovoi, Vagner and Luccin but they recover important assets in midfielders Giovanella and Sylvihno. Last opportunity for Celta when anything else but a win would certainly sign their relegation while getting 3 points might mean dragging Albacete down.

Murcia - Betis
Nothing as stake for the hosts and only pride to play for and not seeing themselves relegated mathematically if tehy lose today. Betis, the visitors, still hold some options for Uefa cup but a good part were wasted when not taking advantage of a Barca team in 10 men. Still a golden opportunity for Betis to put an end to their to long series without win as Murcia shouldn't be 100% motivated and will still have to do with injuries to Fredi, Esnaider, Quintana, Largo and Bonano despite recovering Richi, Juanma and Gancedo. For Betis Denilson has been left out of the suqad so Ismael should replace him but this should be a plus for the team from Seville as the brazilian looked aphatic lately, underperforming as usual. Furthermore important midfielder Assuncao returns to the team after missing the last 2 encounters and it is his presence and the knowledge of his experience and wonderful play in midfield that gives me confidence in backing Betis here. I am sure his play and menatlity will impulsionate his teammates as proved by the away fixture to Depor where he was the midfield "conductor" behind the good first half performance of betis.

Sevilla - Racing Santander
The other team from Seville meets home Racing determined to get a win and aiming to recover the gap of 6 points to an Uefa Cup placement before an opponent that at the moment has not much to play for. The hosts have Gallardo and Oscar injured but will see important changes in the team as Alves will start as lateral defender after being rested in Vigo, Javi Navarro has completed his supension and will start in defence and Dario Silva will regain his position as a striker and the hopes for a win are very much tied to the hope he will see a raise of form for this game and get back to scoring ways. Santander travel for this game without central defender Juanma suspended and Juanma injured so we will see changes in defence. Offensive midfielder Benayoun a non starter in last game neverthe less an important player for his team is also injured. Despite Racing being such an imprevisble team i see the full defnsive line of Sevilla being able to cope with the likes of Guerrero or Bodipo as main dangers, the sevillian midfield winning the fight in the middle of the field while i trust Dario Silva to be motivated to have a good game and take advantage of the changes in Racing' s defence. I back the home win but the confidence is not the highest and a tight game expected.

Mallorca - Villareal
Great chance for Mallorca here to achieve 3 points that could see them very much assuring a vital safety buffer from relegation as they host Villareal and could exploit the guests tiredness after a huge number of games this season and euphory of achieving a place in the semifinal of Uefa Cup this week. Also an opportunity for the hosts to get back to back victories against a rival that surely won't be very motivated on foreign ground as they seem to have given up any ambition in the league saving energy for Uefa cup. Several worries that Mallorca had during the week on some of key players have canceled so they will be able to field the team that has won in Betis with maybe Finidi a doubt. Bruggink's return to the team will only see him get a place on the bench. Villareal are here without 3 of their key men in Belletti supended , Riquelme and Sonny Anderson rested. Although my beleief Mallorca is still a poor team the win in Betis might have given some morale to the players and as they will be motivated for this game i have to trust them. Sandwiched between 2 Uefa games of high and historical importance for the club and very likely paying the price of lack of concentration after the happynes of achieving such a high phase of an european cup and with everything pointing to a lack of toatl comitment in the game(see rested players and Villareal results and play lately) i go for the home win.

Valencia - Real Sociedad
Very hard game and of utmost importance game for Valencia as they meet the basque team of Sociedad home with the psychological disatvantage of having to recover first position in the league after Real has won away to Atletico yesterday. A hard opponnent for Valencia as they have problems with organized defensive teams like Sociedad plays away when meeting a top team. Valencia have injuries to Sisoko, Aimar and Fabio Aurelio with Curro Torres being suspended but their great squad let's them easily deal with them. For Sociedad important striker Kovacevic is supended so he will join players like Wessterveld, Jauregi and De pedro on the sidelines making space in attack for promising De Paula. As Sociedad is a typical team that can make problems for Valencia in Mestalla and considering Valencia's perfect race i prefer not to back them high although i have the confidence they will manage to finally win. Their perfect defense coupled with an defensive approach expected from Sociedad who don't conced easily either, the lack of a true striker in Valencia added to the stake of this game for the hosts (who will want to win it but with a cautious approach) makes me choose the under at good odds.

Barcelona - Malaga
In last game of the day in La Liga, Barcelona return home hosting an Uefa Cup aspirant in Malaga with
hopes of getting involved in the fight for the title totally lost. The game will see the return in this game of Barca's two star at both ends of the formation in Puyol and Ronaldihno but the absence of midfielders Gerard and Motta through suspension and injury respectively. The good news is the red card seen by keeper Valdes has been revoked so he is able to play. For Malaga midfielder Miguel Agel and defender Litos are suspended but their replacements Romero and Saez have similar quality so it should not be a problem in the path of Malaga desire to end a season in style and fight for european footballtill the end proving wrong all who have given them a good chance for descending. As Barcelona are out of the league winning fight but still being on a safe CL position, coming after a hard game in midweek in Betis and with the big derby with Real in sight next week i expect them to play a more relaxed game. Davids the midfiedler that has brought so much in Barca's play assureing fighting spirit, security in the team and cover for the defence is one card away from suspension(maybe he will be rested) and with Motta injured and Gerard supsended the defensive midfield might be the weak point for Barca. Having all this in mind and the morale and form Malaga has with the attackers of the calibre of Salva and Diego Alonso added to the power of Saviola and Ronaldihno always able to exploit a not very secure defence as Malaga's over seems the best option for this game with maybe, maybe a chance for Malaga of makeing a big upset here. After all they have won 5-1 in the reverse fixture.
